  1. An appointment as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (‘CFAV’) is on a voluntary basis and that I am not considered to be an employee of the VCC or the Ministry of Defence (‘MOD’), nor do I have nor will ever seek any employment rights, nor will I consider myself to be a member of HM Armed Forces unless I am a Reserve member of HM Armed Forces pursuant to JSP814. If appointed as a Service Helper (‘SH’) then such membership is in accordance with JSP814 Policy and Regulations for Ministry of Defence Sponsored Cadet Forces.
  2. If I am appointed as a CFAV, I will read, sign and abide by the MOD Sponsored Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer Agreement in addition to these T&Cs and understand that where there is a conflict between the two the former shall apply.
  3. I am not entitled to any salary, pay or other remuneration in lieu of services or time given nor will ever seek such either during or after my appointment, and I shall only seek reimbursement of correctly approved incidental expenses in accordance with policy.
  4. I will adhere to all regulations of the VCC, including all MOD regulations that apply to the VCC, as amended from time to time.
  5. I will follow all the lawful orders and directions of the Commanding Officer and Staff holding rates/ranks and/or appointments senior to mine and those Staff responsible for or in command of activities in which I am involved.

  7. I will not knowingly engage in, or engage cadets or cause cadets to be engaged in activities that are not approved by the VCC.
  8. I will at all times strive to ensure the safeguarding, safety and welfare of the cadets, as well as the safety of Staff and other people.
  9. I may resign at any time by submitting a letter in writing to the Commanding Officer, and I accept that the VCC may terminate my services for whatever or no reason at any time, and that in both circumstances I shall promptly return to the VCC all VCC and/or relevant MOD property in my possession including but not limited to uniform, documentation, data, passwords, identification cards and passes, and equipment. I agree that unauthorised retention of said property may lead to legal action being taken by the VCC and/or MOD and that upon cessation of my appointment in the VCC I may no longer use any communication tools related to the VCC, use and/or store VCC related personal data nor represent the VCC in any way.
  10. My appointment does not exempt me from being available under the Armed Forces Act or from any liability I may have as a consequence of former or current service in HM Armed Forces.
  11. My appointment is subject to an enhanced disclosure check, references and other security checks the VCC and/or MOD deem appropriate from time to time.
  12. I confirm that I am medically fit to undertake the duties of a VCC Staff member and that if I have or subsequently develop any medical conditions I shall disclose such information in confidence to the Commanding Officer or their appointed representative.
  13. I will reasonably attend all parade nights and other relevant training and/or activities pursuant to my appointment or duties in the VCC, or as otherwise agreed with the Commanding Officer and/or their appointed representative.
  14. I will attend all relevant adult induction training, all mandatory Staff training periods, and undertake all mandatory compliance training including, but not limited to, health & safety, safeguarding, information security and training safety.
  15. I agree to being photographed and/or filmed during VCC activities and for such images to be used for publicity purposes.
  16. I will provide a suitable and appropriate level of leadership and example to the cadets, the civilian community, the military community and other stakeholders so that the reputation of the VCC and the MOD’s UK Cadet Forces as a whole is maintained, and I agree that my conduct and behaviour, whether or not whilst engaged in VCC activities, will be conducive to my role as a disciplined uniformed youth group leader and that I should not cause embarrassment to the VCC and/or the MOD.
