Not at all. Cadets and volunteers come from all walks of life.
Yes, the joining fee includes a contribution towards the supply of uniform. Cadets are typically provided with the necessary uniform items. However, cadets may need to supply their own footwear, such as parade shoes or combat boots. Some units may have second-hand items available.
Cadets typically attend weekly training nights and weekend activities. Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they’re able.
Joining Fee: £90, payable on induction night or within the first four weeks. This covers recruit training, identification passes, a contribution to uniform supply, and the initial training weekend (including transport, food, and accommodation).
Membership Fee: £120 per year, payable annually or in monthly instalments of £10. This fee supports ongoing activities and compares favourably with other youth organisations.
Additional Costs: Some events, like the annual summer camp, may incur extra charges, though efforts are made to keep these minimal.
Bursaries are available; please contact your local unit for details.
