About our Website Terms and Conditions

Access to and use of the VCC website www.volunteercadetcorps.org (“website”) within the United Kingdom and internationally is provided by Headquarters VCC (“VCC”) in good faith.  These Website Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) apply to your use of the website and shall take effect immediately from your first use of it and shall continue to apply thereafter.  To use the website, you must agree to be bound by the T&Cs provided severally and wholly.  If you do not agree to be bound by the T&Cs HQVCC does not nor will not permit you to access, use and/or contribute to the website. 

HQVCC reserved the right to, and may from time to time, change these T&Cs so you should check these on a regular basis.  Your continued use of the website will be deemed as acceptance of any updated or amended T&Cs.  If you do not agree to the changes, you should cease using the website immediately.  If there is any conflict between these T&Cs and specific local terms and conditions appearing elsewhere on the website, then the latter shall prevail in relation to the matter to which it relates.

Intellectual Property

All copyright, patents, trademarks, design rights and other intellectual property rights, whether registered or unregistered, in and on the website as well as all content including all applications located on the website shall remain the property of VCC or its licensors which may include other users.

By using the website, you agree not to copy, reproduce, republish, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer, post, download, transmit, broadcast, make available to the public, or otherwise use website content in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use or non-commercial use directly related to the activities of the VCC within the United Kingdom.  You also agree not to alter or create a derivative work from any website content except for your own personal use.  Any other use of the website content requires the prior written permission of the VCC.

Names, photographs, pictures, images and logos identifying VCC personnel, buildings, activities or third parties and their products and services are subject to copyright, design rights and trademarks of the VCC and/or those third parties as relevant.  These T&Cs shall not be interpreted as permitting any licence or right to use any trademark, design right or copyright of the VCC or any third party.

Website Use

You agree to use the website for lawful purposes only and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of it.  Use of the website which is not permitted includes (but is not restricted to) hacking, uploading viruses and other such offences, harassing or causing distress or inconvenience to any person (whether or not they are a user of the website), transmitting obscene or offensive content (including but not limited to text/or and images) or any other unlawful conduct.

Website Content

VCC personnel create most of the content on the website although some content may be added or have derived from members of the public or relatives of VCC personnel.  The views expressed on the website are theirs and unless stated are not those of the VCC, the Royal Navy or the Ministry of Defence.  The VCC is not responsible for any content posted by VCC personnel or members of the public or for the availability or content of any third party sites that are accessible via it. Content on the website is not designed to be advice and the VCC will not accept any liability should any content be interpreted as such 

Any links to third party websites from the website do not amount to any endorsement of that site by the VCC, the Royal Navy or the Ministry of Defence.  Use of any other website accessed by using a link from the VCC website is done so entirely at your risk.

Website content, including information, names, images, pictures, logos and icons relating to the VCC including its activities is provided on an ‘as is’ basis and ‘as available’ basis. To the extent permitted by the applicable law, the VCC excludes all representations and warranties (whether express or implied by law), including the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, security and accuracy.  The VCC does not guarantee the timeliness, completeness or performance of the website or any of the content.  While the VCC will perform best endeavours to ensure that all content provided by it is correct at the time of publication no responsibility is accepted by or on behalf of the VCC for any errors, omissions or inaccurate content.

By using the website, you agree to indemnify the VCC, its officers, directors, employees and volunteers (as applicable) immediately on demand, against all claims, liability, damages, costs and expenses, including legal fees, arising out of any breach of these T&Cs by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of the website.  Nothing in these terms limits or excludes the VCC’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its proven negligence.  Subject to the foregoing the VCC shall not be liable for any of the following losses or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise):

  1. Loss of revenue or anticipated profits.
  2. Loss of data.
  3. Losses suffered by third parties.
  4. Loss of business.
  5. Loss of opportunity.
  6. Loss of goodwill or injury to reputation.
  7. Any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the website regardless of the form of action.

The VCC does not warrant that functionality available on the website will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that the website or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or bugs.  By using the website, you agree and understand that it is your responsibility to implement sufficient procedures and virus checks, including anti-virus and other security checks, to satisfy your requirements for the accuracy of data input and output.

Personal Data

If you provide your personal data, such as name, email address and/or telephone number we may occasionally use that information to contact you to provide updates on the activities of the VCC.  We do not sell, lease, give or in any other way knowingly release said information to third parties except as required by law.

The VCC is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.  You can be assured that any information that you provide when using this website, by which you can be identified, will only be used in accordance with these T&Cs.  We may collect the following information:

  1. First name and surname
  2. Email address
  3. Age, where it is relevant to your enquiry
  4. Demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests

We require this information to understand your needs and for:

  1. Internal record keeping.
  2. Improve our services.
  3. Sending you information that you have specifically requested, using the contact details provided. 
  4. Enquiring with you how the VCC may amend its activities for the ongoing benefit of its members.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure.  In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 2018, for which a small fee is payable.  If you would like a copy of the information held on you or believe that any information on you we hold may be incorrect please write to the VCC at the address below. We will respond and/or correct any information found to be incorrect as soon as possible.

Miscellaneous

Should any part of these T&Cs be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable because of the laws of any state or country in which they are intended to be effective, then to the extent and within the jurisdiction in which that term is illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and deleted from these T&Cs and the remaining parts therein shall survive and continue to be binding and enforceable as before.  Should the VCC fail or delay to exercise or enforce any right in these T&Cs does not waive its right to enforce that right.

These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales which shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes.
