Weekend Fun for Royal Naval Cadet Recruits

Published on 26th June 2017

The latest batch of recruits for the Royal Naval Cadets at HMS Excellent, the VCC’s newest unit, enjoyed a fun packed weekend of naval and field training as they completed stage 2 of their recruit training.  In addition to a visit to the state ceremonial gun carriage and a tour of the wardroom the cadets undertook some basic field skills and spent a night under canvass.

The recruits were then presented with their new VCC epaulette slides by the 2IC of Portsmouth VCC, Capt Chris Spratt RMC, and now look forward to stage 3 and fine tuning their drill skills as they head towards their ceremonial pass out parade in mid-July.

The next intake of recruits into HMS Excellent RNVCC is in Sep 2017.  Visit our Join Us page to apply today.

National Citizen Service

Published on 25th January 2017

The National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme gives all 16 and 17 year olds the chance to take part in activities that build skills for work and life whilst they meet new challenges and new friends. It brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop confidence, self-awareness and responsibility, and encourages personal and social development by working on skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication; important attributes that colleges, universities and employer’s value.  Portsmouth VCC fully endorses the NSC as our aim aligns very closely with the scheme’s objectives.  Consequently, HMS Excellent RNVCC is delighted to be able to offer involvement in the scheme.  Please visit our website for further information.  Eligible cadets will also receive a presentation on Fri 10 Feb 2017.  Please visit our website for more information.

New Year, New Website

Published on 2nd January 2017

As we welcome a New Year we also welcome a new website for the Volunteer Cadet Corps.  Our brand new internet presence brings all of our units under one roof and reflects our unified structure as we embark on another busy year and look to expand the organisation.

The new website provides useful information about the VCC as a whole as well as about our individual units.  There are restricted pages allowing registered users to access information relevant to serving cadets and staff, as well as useful links and other helpful information such as forms and safety information.

We intend to develop the website over time so if you have any feedback please let us know.

For serving cadets and staff a letter will be issued later this week with instructions on how to register for the restricted areas of the site.

Please take time to explore and enjoy the pages of our new site.

Meet The Challenge!
