lympstone-division-rmvcc-shieldLympstone Division RMVCC is one of the newer units in the Volunteer Cadet Corps as is based at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) in Lympstone, near Exeter.  This location offers our cadets a wealth of support both in terms of facilities and instructing staff.

Our cadets in Lympstone are able to make use of most of the facilities at CTCRM, and are well supported by the local training staff.  The gymnasium is often the scene of enthusiastic young cadets, boys and girls, being put through their paces by Royal Marines physical training instructors.  Indeed, the physical skills of our cadets is so good they have even given public displays and had been ‘passed out’ as qualified cadet PTIs.

Dartmoor, of course, is only a short drive away and our Lympstone cadets will often be found out training on the moor, enjoying the occasional sunshine!  The cadets aren’t always in green however, and will often be looking smart on parade in their blue dress uniforms.

Like our other RMVCC Divisions, our recruits undergo basic training for about 4 to 5 months as they are introduced to drill, map reading, navigation, first aid, field craft and Corps history.  The recruits’ training finishes with a weekend exercise on ‘the common’ where their field skills are assessed and then a Pass Out parade in front of very proud family and friends.  The top recruit is awarded the prestigious Belle Isle Award.
